UK Sep-Dec 1912
- The brutality and violence of the independence protestors in Hong Kong turns public opinion firmly against them. The arson and horrifying executions of pro-British Hong Kong civilians proves too far for many protestors, and attendance rates for the protests drops significantly. The British begin mass deporting protestors to the Chinese mainland. Anti-Japanese sentiment rises in the city, as people see the Japanese as barbaric enough to burn people alive.
- We demand Japan withdraw all forces from around Hong Kong by next year, or we will fire on their ships.
- The rebellion in Korea rapidly makes progress due to the Japanese failing to take the revolt seriously. By now most major northern cities are in Korean hands, as well as Seoul and Incheon and the Gangwon highlands. The Japanese police are slaughtered by the much better equipped Korean rebels, who have captured numerous weapons depots. The Puppet Government is close to falling. At Pyongyang a Free Government is declared, which the British immediately recognise.
- Troop transports carry thousands of soldiers to Australia and Malaya, escorted by large guards of ships.
- Gun implacements designed to combat aircraft are installed at Hong Kong and at important harbours in Australia, Singapore and Malaya.
- We urge the rest of the Entente to take a hardline response against Japan, especially Russia seeing as if the Treaty of Peking was revoked Russia would lose its Manchurian land.
