The Albanian Civil War, also known as the Albanian Rebellion, Albanian Unrest or the Pyramid Crisis, was a period of civil unrest and disorder in Albaniaball in 1997. The war was a result of failed Ponzi schemes and the government collapsed and 2,000 people killed. The actual war is disputed and its either a civil war, a rebellion, or a rebellion that evolved into a civil war, though some deny that it was even a war.
In 1992, communism had collapsed and PSR Albaniaball had transformed into a new democratic republican Albaniaball and a new market economy was introduced after years of the socialist planned economy. The Democratic Party took over and introduced capitalism, but the economy was dominated by Ponzi schemes and government officials endorsed pyramid investment schemes. By January 1997, these schemes (many of which were fronts for laundering money and arms trafficking) and things went downhill from there.
