The Italian Civil War is the period between September 8, 1943 (the date of the armistice of Cassibile), and May 2, 1945 (the date of the surrender of German forces in Italy) in which the Italian Co-Belligerent Army and the monarchist
Italian Resistance fought together and defeated the forces of the Fascist
Italian Social Republicball established by
Nazi Germanyball. It was part of the wider Italian Campaign of World War II and saw the unification of Italyball by the allies and the surrender of German forces in the country and helped end the war in Europe.
Background
In 1940, Kingdom of Italyball had decided to invade Egypt which was under the colonial rule of
UKball leading to the beginning of the Mediterranean Front of World War II. Italyball would lose badly though and it forced
Nazi Germanyball to intervene to keep North Africa and the Mediterranean under Axis control. When that failed in 1943 and the Axis forces surrendered, the Allied Powers decided to invade
Sicilyball and not long after that happened Mussolini to be ousted from power in a coup and Italyball to surrender. Nazi Germanyball however, wasn't going to allow this to happen and managed to invade and occupy all of northern Italy and free Mussolini putting him in charge of the new
Italian Social Republicball to counter the Allies.
