Nothing special, living the life, drinking the coffee, enjoying the sun (although this year was particularly cold). As a Cypriot would say life is goin' "σιγα-σιγα".
Cyprus has not been a war-zone for a long time. North Cyprus is also pretty quiet, you can actually travel there from the South. The UN peacekeepers are also laid-back. I saw them just chilling in the cafe once, when I went to Nicosia for my German B1 exam.
So, unlike many people may presume, Cyprus is a pretty chill place, while Cypriots are probably the most friendly Europeans out there.
Well, thanks for asking!
Well, since you asked, I don't really like the fact that he's a dictator (28 years in office, c'mon), but his government seems to improve the country's economy and the situation in general. He's also trying to seek friendship with other countries like the US, China and EU. I see that there is progress.
About the new Latin alphabet - I was opposed at first but then I looked at their Cyrillic alphabet and it's quite 'ugh'. It probably doesn't work well for Kazakh. However, their new alphabet is better, but not much (Ý for [w]? ı for [j]? and why not ş for sh? and ç for ch? why accent marks instead of umlaut?) Looks lazy-ish. Maybe they didn't want it to look too much like the Turkish alphabet, but honestly the Turkish alphabet works great. Ok, I digress.
In conclusion, I don't think that Nursultan is a bad guy, but he's quite old and it's probably time for change.
