Rotterdamball is the largest cityball of South Hollandball, in Netherlands-icon Netherlandsball. He has one of the world's biggest harbours and is renowned for his archtecture and his no-nonsense spirit.

Rotterdamball was founded in 1270 and given city rights by Holy Roman Empireball in 1340, and was adopted by Habsburgball, Spanish Empireball, and Netherlandsball.

Rotterdam has always been a city who depended on the water to live. He has been running a harbour for ages. From the 17th to 19th century, he played a role in the distribution of 8balls for slavery in the Americaballs.

He has been interested in modern architecture since the 19th century.

Wartime and Post-WWII life

At the beginning of World War II, Nazi Germanyball attacked Rotterdamball for several days, with Rotterdamball resisting relentlessly during this period. During the last day, Nazi Germanyball dropped bombs on him, leaving him severely injured, many of his people homeless and most of his clay blackened. Netherlandsball did not want this to happen to other of his cityballs and as a result capitulised.

Throughout the war period, Rotterdamball fought for his life, and successfully recovered. In the 1950's, he was already thriving to become a modern cityball. At that time, many immigrants came to him and that, among other factors, gave his clay city a new identity.

He was looking forward to hosting Eurovision 2020, but sadly the coronavirus pandemic forced him to cancel.  However, he is happy that he'll get to welcome everyone in 2021.
