Happy St. Martin's day!

User blog

I have seen that a lot of people on this wiki hate Halloween. Most of Estonians have started celebrating Halloween quite recently, but for last 2 or even more centuries we have celebrated St. Martin's day, which is tomorrow.

On the night before St. Martin's day Estonian children dress up as ugly men(girls also) and go from house to house to sing, read poems or tell jokes for the families living there, wish them good luck with growing crops(even if they live in an apartment) and then get candy from them(the best part). In my opinion it's better than Halloween, but I celebrate both. So if you hate Halloween, but want candy, become an Estonian and celebrate St. Martin's day!
