The Western Front was the main theatre of World War I in which the Triple Entente/Allied Powers, mainly UKball, French Third Republicball, and Belgiumball , fought against the Central Powers of German Empireball and Austria-Hungaryball in Western Europe. As the war progressed, more and more nations were brought in and expanded the Allied Powers as a whole. The Western Front was infamous for the extensive usage of trench warfare and battle lines would remain stagnant in a constant stalemate with little ground gained until early 1917 and 1918.
Due to near constant stalemate, both sides would employ new tactics, weapons and technology to break the deadlock from the creation of tanks in 1916 to the extensive usage of chemical weapons all throughout the entire war along with the usage of new aircraft and as well. This lead to the weakening of armies in the west and the return to mobile warfare by 1918. The front was closed by November 11th, 1918 with the singing of the armistice and was finalized with the infamous Treaty of Versailles.
