Zimbabweball is a rich landlocked countryball, located in Southern Africa between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. His capital and largest cityball is Harare-icon.png Harareball. He also is linguistically diverse, with 16 official languages.

History

Zimbabweball is as a descendent of 8-icon.png 8ball and has a very rich history, unfortunately they didn't keep written historical records. Much of what is known of their history is through written accounts by Portugal-icon.png Portugueseballs and archaeological research. The Kingdom of Mapungubweball that occuppied south Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball and South Africa-icon.png South Africaball, is thought to predate the period of Great Zimbabwe. It features the same architecture.

Kingdom of Zimbabweball was the largest empire in Sub Saharan Africa, this around 1200 to 1500 AD. Great Zimbabwe then started to decline due to lack of resources as the population grew bigger, so its leaders moved in conquest of new lands toward north, founding the Kingdom of Mutapa-icon.png Kingdom of Mutapaball (Mutapa means conqueror in the Shona language), establishing the biggest empire to ever exist in Southern Africa, occupying the territories of current Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball, Mozambique-icon.png Mozambiqueball, Zambia-icon.png Zambiaball and South Africa-icon.png South Africaball.

The state was conquered by PortugueseEmpire-icon.png Kingdom of Portugalball in the 17th century, they installed a puppet king to serve their interests. A series of invasions and civil wars happened after that, the kingdom was taken by rebels who founded the Rozvi Stateball, that covered much of present day Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball and was centred around the region of Butwa, they also defeated PortugueseEmpire-icon.png Kingdom of Portugalball. Rozvi Stateball once started to build a tower toward the moon, as they wanted to take the moon from space and make it the King’s treasure.

Rozvi Stateball collapsed in the 19th century out of invasion attempts and civil wars, it was succeded by tribal kingdomballs such as the Ndebeleballs, that were closely related to Zulu Kingdom-icon.png Zulu Kingdomball. These kingdomballs would all be conquered later by UK-icon.png UKball, being then named Rhodesia, after Cecil Rhodes, the famed colonizer and advocate of British imperialism, it would be divided in Northern Rhodesia-icon.png Northern Rhodesiaball and Southern Rhodesia-icon.png Southern Rhodesiaball.

UK-icon.png UKball violently took most fertile lands from the natives to be used for its projects, such as tobacco growing, they later incentivated immigration of Europeans by offering them some of these stolen lands. By the way, Rhodesiaball was not ruled by UK-icon.png UKball itself till 1924, rather by the British South Africa Company that ruled a corporate state, similar to how Belgium-icon.png Belgiumball ruled Congo Free State-icon.png Congo Free Stateball.

In the 50s, UK-icon.png UKball united Northern Rhodesia-icon.png Northern Rhodesiaball, Nyasaland-icon.png Nyasalandball and Southern Rhodesia-icon.png Southern Rhodesiaball into a federation to "boost" its economic capacity. As African nationalism saw a rise and opposition to the federation grew, it ended 1963. Shortly after the dissolution, Northern Rhodesia-icon.png Northern Rhodesiaball and Nyasaland-icon.png Nyasalandball became independent as Zambia-icon.png Zambiaball and Malawi-icon.png Malawiball.

Southern Rhodesia-icon.png Southern Rhodesiaball was the only one that didn't become independent under majority rule, as it was dominated by its white minority, who ran the colony themselves instead of by people sent by UK-icon.png UKball, with its own armed forces and police. As such, besides being the richest out of its previous history, it had the most oppressive and racist government toward the natives. Therefore, Southern Rhodesia-icon.png Southern Rhodesiaball unilaterally declared independence from the UK-icon.png UKball in 1965 and became the state of Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball.

As another apartheid like system emerged in an ex-colony of UK-icon.png UKball in Southern Africa, just like Union of South Africa-icon.png Union of South Africaball, that had its political system internationally condemned by UN-icon.png UNball, plus being the reason behind the fall of the federation. UK-icon.png UKball didn't want to have to deal with more problems related to it and didn't recognize Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball. UN-icon.png UNball later approved sanctions against Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball that were never actually implemented by most Western countryballs, with USA-icon.png USAball bypassing it several times.

Receiving weapons and support from China-icon.png Chinaball, Soviet-icon.png Soviet Unionball, Yugoslavia-icon.png Yugoslaviaball, North Korea-icon.png North Koreaball, Derg-icon.png Dergball and Gaddafi Libya-icon.png Libyan Arab Jamahiriyaball, the African population took up arms against Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball white-minority rule in the 1970s. Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball was backed mainly by Israel-icon.png Israelcube and Union of South Africa-icon.png South Africaball, but as wais said before USA-icon.png USAball bypassed international sanctions in an attempt to help it and prevent the revolutionaries from taking power.

Rhodesia-icon.png Rhodesiaball tried to save itself by making an agreement with a few token of African natives, turning the country into Zimbabwe Rhodesiaball, but nobody took it serious and in 1979 the Lancaster House Agreement was signed, which recognized independce of Rhodesia as Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball, getting away with the colonial name. After independence was followed, an electoral period happened, where Robert Mugabe that had been a combatant in the national liberation movement emerged victorious in a socialist platform.

During its first years, Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball was doing fine, with UK-icon.png UKball even calling Mugabe an examplary African leadership. Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball during this period expanded education and other programs previously restricted to the white minority to the service of all people, the effects of this program are still visible with the country having a literacy rate of almost 90%. However, the Economic Structural Adjustment program (ESAP), an austerity program imposed on Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball by IMF-icon.png IMFball in the late 80s would be the origin of its problems.

It was in the period that the calls for land redistribution originated, since even with the expanded social programs after independence, most of the population had no fertile land to farm and the austerity program made life worse as price increases. The Lancaster House Agreement specified that Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball could not seize white-owned land for ten years, it also asserted UK-icon.png UKball would fund the purchase of land from the white farmers. Situation continued though and in the 90s after more protests, the government decided to start the reforms. The purchase of land was going on well until UK-icon.png UKball refused to continue with what was decided in the Lancaster House Agreement, Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball then refused to compensate white farmers with its own money and started to appropriatie land compulsorily and without compensation.

After that, Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball started to collapse, not just because of some chaos in this process but because of sanctions imposed by USA-icon.png USAball, that didn't allow the country to have access to key agricultural imports needed to make fertilizer, killing the agriculture that the economy relied on its exports. Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball then cut ties with IMF-icon.png IMFball and World Bank, also leaving Commonwealthball, the country went into one of the worst inflation ever seen because of that. Even with this, Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball was able to intervene militarily alongside Namibia-icon.png Namibiaball and Angola-icon.png Angolaball in the DR Congo-icon.png Democratic Republic of the Congoball to support the government against Rwanda-icon (1962-2001).png Rwandaball and Uganda-icon.png Ugandaball.

In 2008, Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball started to print more money as the supply of food started to be affected as the farners were not being able to produce proper yield as they lacked stuff to do so and the people didn't have any money. Even printing a 100 trillion dollar bill. As a result, even to buy a loaf of bread, a suitcase full of money was required to be taken. Zimbabwe-icon.png Zimbabweball then issued a higher valued currency, solving the above problem but not the hyperinflation, the crisis continued. Later a multi currency system was adopted, with the US Dollar being the main currency along with local bond notes.

In November 2017, after years of internal disputes and accusations of corruption in the government, the military staged coup against the government of Robert Mugabe. As from 2018, the new government abolished the multi currency system and introduced a new devalued currency called RTG dollars. RTG dollars are basically the same as bond notes except that they have been devalued and their value depends on bank balance fluctuations.

How to draw

Drawing zimbabwe is pretty hard:

  1. Draw a left triangle black border in the basic circle shape
  2. Draw inside it a red star with a yellow bird on it
  3. Divide the rest of the circle into seven stripes
  4. Color them of green, yellow, red, black, red, yellow and green
  5. Draw the eyes and you've finished.
